Let me start with the Ambiance is fantastic loved the bar seating and the high top seating , service was delightful she told us all about the items and made great suggestions . The food was fantastic loved everything reminded me of Betelnut which was my favorite restaurant in SF can't wait to come back . My only complaint is when a tip 25% is added to a bill the server should let us know !!! If my friend didn't check the bill I was going to leave another 20% so that I'm not happy about . R server was Isabel please let your guest know the tip had been added and we want to an additional tip can be left .

I came here for lunch at noon after getting married at City Hall. Reserved a table for 6 the day before. It wasn't very busy so the hostess allowed us to sit wherever we wanted, which was appreciated. This place had fancy vibe; modern & chic. The customer service was excellent, 5 stars. Hayden was our server and made sure we were being take care of. Very attentive and a great sense of humor. I have to admit, my group had a little more "requests" than usual, but he made sure everything was taken care of. They also provided us some complimentary champagne for our special day, which we truly appreciated. This place is very much Asian-fusion, but very much delicious. We tried the siu mai and it was different from your typical dim sum joints. Had an herb-y kick to it. The Lou Rou Fan minced pork was incredible, paired well with the sunny side up egg over rice. The Fried Scallion Bread was quite taste and in my opinion, tastes better without the sauce. Could pair well with some condensed milk. Mapo Tofu was unexpectedly really spicy, which was a welcomed surprise since it's a fusion restaurant. You couldn't go wrong with any of these dishes.

I came here on a Friday afternoon with one of my friends. We ordered a ton of food and we were a bit ambitious. We order about 5 things on the menu. But let's start with the location, great spot. Staff is super kind and will share their recommendations. The storefront is super clean and almost makes me feel like I am not in San Francisco. The food came out quickly and was all amazing. We started off with the basket of fried scallion bread (10/10), shrimp and scallop shumai (8/10) I thought they were good just a little dry, Sheng Jian Bao (10/10) and even after some time the bottom part remained crispy, house famous Kung Pao fire chicken (7/10) just because at this point we were pretty full and couldn't eat this fresh so we took it to go, Shanghai chow mein (10/10) those noodles were supreme, soup dumplings (10/10) and lastly the mandarin chocolate brownie (3/10) I am not a huge citrus in dessert person but my friend loved it. Overall great staff, food was out quickly, and the bill was decent. I definitely understand why this spot is on Eater's must list in SF

San Francisco Chinatown restaurants generally are not pet friendly, but China Alive has a lighted covered sidewalk covering along their frontage on Broadway that is perfect for dogs and their families. The welcoming wait staff seated us and took our lunch orders without any issues. Unlike most Chinese restaurants in SF Chinatown, China Live strives hard to break the "old school" model followed by many 1st generation Chinese restaurants in SF by providing staff who are very friendly to tourists (not rude), offering an extensive yet very authentic Chinese menu from various provinces of China that is clear to understand, the dining room/gift shop is beautifully furnished, creatively designed, and clean, making the whole dining experience a positive one. It is not inexpensive, but comparable to any other high end restaurant you would visit elsewhere in the Bay Area. China Live is worth a SF Chinatown visit (it borders the North Beach neighborhood of Little Italy) and the nearby North Beach parking structures make it easy to visit.

I ordered the braised minced pork rice bowl and it was FIRE!!!! The service was quick and they brought us extra water and made sure we were taken care of. When I asked where the bathroom was, the host kindly escorted me instead of just pointing it out. The outdoor seating was super cute, but I was jealous of everyone sitting inside because of how vibey it was!!! The pork dumplings were FAT AND JUICY!!!!!!

This is our first time here since they opened about 7 years ago. It used to be the old Gold Mountain Restaurant where my best friend held her wedding banquet many moons ago. It is a humongous restaurant and our friends that we met for lunch made a reservation. We sat in the front of the restaurant and ordered 4 dishes: Chrysanthemum Ten Ingredient Salad, Shanghai Xiao Long Bao XLB Soup Dumplings, Tamarind Laced Sweet and Sour Basil Glazed Pork Ribs, and Shanghai Fat Chow Mein, along with 8 Treasures Tea. The best dish of the bunch was the Shanghai Fat Chow Mein with plenty of yummy black mushrooms and the Shanghai Xiao Long Bao XLB soup dumplings. The pork ribs were on the dry side and the salad, well it lacked in flavor and was served without the dressing so we had to ask for the dressing. We had ordered the salad with chicken but the server forgot to put it in the order. It's a trendy place and a huge restaurant but it wasn't busy on a Thursday at noon.
